My 7 year old son has been reading the Ballpark Mysteries books for about a year and a half now, and he LOVES them. He's an avid baseball fan, but also has a love for reading in general. These books are fun and engaging, and he always complains that the chapters end with a "mystery" that makes you want to keep reading! We've read through all of the books in the series, and are now working on reading them all a second time!For those not familiar with the Ballpark Mysteries series, the books follow cousins Mike & Kate as they travel around the country visiting baseball stadiums (usually with Kate's mom, who is a sports reporter for a website, but sometimes with Kate's dad, who is a baseball scout I believe). Along the way, Mike and Kate inevitably encounter a mystery involving the stadium or one of the baseball players. Mike and Kate are great at solving mysteries, so they always figure things out by the end of the book. These books are great for both boys and girls, since the main characters are a boy and a girl.In this particular book, Mike and Kate are volunteering for a charity and are sleeping over at the baseball hall of fame. After everyone is asleep, they are sneaking around and notice that the Honus Wagner card is a fake. This book revolves around them trying to solve the mystery of who took the card.Throughout each book, the reader learns facts about each stadium and/or players, and there is also a fun facts page at the end of eachbook as well. My son has collected all of the books in the series, and is eagerly anticipating the release of the newest one, the Cardinal Caper!If your child likes these books, I would also highly recommend the Little Rhino series. Started buying these books for my son who is a big baseball fan but not always the best at reading fiction books. The whole series has been a hit and he likes that they take place in different ballpark (or cooperstown). They're starting to get a little young for him (he finished this in a day) but he still likes reading them.
Story line goes with the rest of the books in the series.
Each mystery takes place in a different ballpark in the USA.
My son loves this series and has read every single book. We anxiously look forward to every new addition!
