Good read with a surprising ending. I would recommend anyone fascinated by pathology and forensic medicine to give it a try. Would have loved more detail about autopsies and the cause of death scenarios. Mr. Logan can write more about Dr. Beckett Campbell, and I will be buying every one!

Love Beckett ! Great book highly recommend

Wow, this was a crazy ride. Where to start? This was a really intense read. As a lab tech, I’m familiar with pathologists and their brand of crazy. After all, a warped sense of humor is all that keeps someone in the medical field sane. That being said, the author gives Beckett the perfect personality for a pathologist. Someone who gets under your skin, on your nerves, but someone you also can’t help but love and root for. Partway through the book, I hade to wonder if Beckett wasn’t suffering from schizophrenia or something and was actually the one leaving the organs on his desk. Sort of a Dr Jekyll and Hyde thing. I still didn’t guess who was actually the culprit. I advise not to read this at bed time. If you like Stephen King, you will love this. Imagine if Stephen King had a medical degree. This is what his writing would be like. This is my first book by Patrick Logan but won’t be the last. I once tried an audiobook but wasn’t sure about the narrator. Now that I got a feel for the personality of characters in the books, I see why the author chose the narrator. He is perfect for an obnoxious dr character. It makes it all the more real. I am going to definitely listen to it again.

This is the best version! Not too complicated but just right to actually make you care about your Mechwarrior in and out of the Mech!

In my humble opinion, this book contains the best rule set for running a Mechwarrior game. Of course, if you do not have the Battletech rules also, it will be difficult to run this in conjunction with Battletech game play.

I love the layout of this game. I researched a few editions before finding this, and I have to say this looks like the best.

Simple system, easy to learn.

The book was covered with some sort of protective plastic covering that will not come off without ruining it, which wouldn't be a problem if whoever put it on had done a good job of it. Which was only moderately true, the front is fine, but the back has a large bubble in it that will not come out without doing some damage to the book.Ignoring that, the full color pages were all stuck together at the bottom from water damage, I chose to just gently pry them apart instead of sending the book back, mostly because it is really hard to complain about a twenty three year old Pen and paper book that's likely seen some use.Anyways, it is acceptable, not amazing, but acceptable. Silly, but fun. Fun, but fun. Fun fun, fun fun.

I love Battletech but I am not fond of this RPG version. But since I love everything with BT I gave it 5 stars. The next version on BT RPG is better then this. However I use Blood of Heroes rules for my campaigns.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a story I've known for many years from the two movie versions, particularly the Gene Wilder movie I first saw as a child. It's such a joy to finally read the original book as an adult. Dahl had a sardonic sense of humor and could be quite cruel to some of his child characters. But the book is full of whimsy and imagination. Though we don't get Leslie Bricusse's songs, we do get some very funny ones from the Oompa Loompas themselves. And Dahl's amusingly primitive illustrations are perfect at capturing how he imagined the characters to look as opposed to the Hollywood versions that are so familiar to us by now. A true treasure with some biting satire, pointing the finger at some familiar targets that still ring true today, ranging from binge watching TV to overeating to selfishness, greed and ostentatious displays of wealth. Dahl has fun with each of them, but keeps the story entertaining rather than preachy. And just the names of the characters like Willy Wonka, Veruca Salt, Augustus Bloop and Mike Teevee are amusing in themselves. A short read, but a fun one.

I didn’t read this book as a child, so now that I have children of my own, we really loved reading this book together. It is written in a way that young and old can enjoy it.It’s about a young boy's journey to winning a tour through the chocolate factory in his town. There are plenty of times where we laughed out loud at the ridiculous imagination of Roald Dahl. We are going to order the next one in the series so we can see what else happens!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a story to be read again and again. It captures Dahl's excellence in making a hero out of the least popular child around. This is a great tale to reinforce that wealth does not trump poverty and that good guys can finish first. Right before the holiday I was talking with a coworker about Charley and the Chocolate Factory. Although she loved the original movie she had never seen the newer version. I highly recommended that she view it. One point of my recommendation was that it was suppose to be closer to the book.Only I had never read the book. It has been on my list of books to read forever. However, it never worked out to read it. Until now.I was delighted to see three works by Roald Dahl on the 100 BBC Books list. Matilda was one of my favorite books as a child! To make it even better Amazon offered a Kindle deal after Christmas discounting both Charley and the Chocolate Factory and Matilda. I was excited to finally read this book.Charley and the Chocolate Factory is written for a younger audience. The children are all around the age of nine.I hate to write a book review based upon the movie. However, it is rare that I have actually seen the movie before reading the book. I think this will tend to be the case for most everyone.The book is different from both movies. It is simpler. This is not surprising when you consider the reading level of a nine year old. This is not to say that the book does not give you more then the movie. For one it gives you a way to picture the children and parents in which ever way you see fit. I also enjoy Willey Wonka in the book. He is not as over the top as Johnny Depp, but his is a bit more eccentric then in the original movie.If you have not read Charley and the Chocolate Factory you should. Better yet, you should pick up the book and read it with (or to) a child.

About a poor boy named Charlie Bucket who loves Willie Wonka's chocolate. The Wonka factory had been closed for years, and when Mr. Wonka gives an opportunity to five lucky children who finds a shimmering golden paper called the Golden Ticket ( which is a free entrance ticket to the factory of Willie Wonka) , and whoever wins gets a free supply of chocolate for the rest of their lives. Charlie finds a green dollar, and he buys some chocolate bars in an ordinary store and finds the last Golden Ticket ever in the whole world. I recommend this book for children because they will show big interest (I predict) and a lot of laughter- and singing. An exciting tour through the best chocolate factory in the world, followed by four other unmistakably crazy chocolate- lovers. Funny children, great chocolate inventions, and some crazy singing! What is a better combo than this?

The story is a little strange and the language is not always appropriate for little children. We read it because it is a children’s classic but it turned me off from reading Dahl’s other books. My kids had mixed feelings about it.

When I was in first grade, I broke me arm and dislocated my shoulder. The best part of my recuperation was that every night, my father would read to me. The book he brought home was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I love the humor of it, the fitting ends of each of the misbehaving children, and the sheer wonder of a place as magical as Willie Wonka's factory. The 50th anniversary edition (strange to realize I'm older than this book) has new artwork, which I didn't like as much as the original, and the Oompa Loompas have been redesigned, which I also didn't like. Classic books should stay as they were written. But the core of the story remains intact.

I'll admit it. Im in seventh grade, but this book really was awesome. i did not expect at all how well written or how hooked id be. i spent a late night on this one- when I wasnt supposed to. it was a school night, but twelve isnt that bad. Anyways, the writing was absolutely awesome, the plotline hilarious. its a laugh out loud book with all the tropes of middle school. more than a couple times though, my heartstrings were sevevrely pulled.this may not be the usual kind of book i go for, but for me it was a hit. id read it at any age

I’ve been a fan of Gordon Korman for a long time, ever since laughing out loud while reading his original Mcdonald Hall books. Some of his more recent series have disappointed, as they seem formulaic and trite. This book is mature Korman. The humor is there, and the human nature. Characters grow and develop. There is plot and insight and sensitivity. Worth reading for adults and children.

Gordon Korman is my favorite author! This did not disappoint! As an adult that learned to love him with my children, I am still reading them each as soon as a new one comes out--I like the funny ones best. If you haven't tried it, you have to read NO COINS, PLEASE!--it is my favorite all all time.

This book was fun, funny, touching, and inspirational. It is empowering because of the fact that it talks about how teachers can change lives. The characters are very well developed and each character has his/her own individual personality that is different from every other character in the book. I high!y recommend this book for kids ages 8-13. This book is amazing.☺

My daughter asked for this book as part of her ongoing reading program at school. She asked fir more Gordon Korman books because they are so engaging and keep her interested enough to sit for longer periods of time reading! A+

The first half was better than the second. The ending was kind of hurried, not like his best books. But still a good read.

It was a fast read, with funny characters, and an interesting story line. While it wasn’t as strong as Restart in character development, it did have some of that same charm!

Have only read 4 Chapters to my Year 7/8 Class, but it already has their interest. Obviously written by someone in touch with the real world. Top read!

This was profoundly beautiful!!! 😍😍😍A historical speculative fiction novel set in Montreal in the early 1900s. Dolores Extract #1 is a Mem who's been created by the memory of 19 year old girl named Dolores. At once they realize that Dolore Extract #1 is unique in comparison to other mems.There are times when the line between what she is remembering from her past is blurred with the present, which can makes things bit confusing. I feel this was used by the author to mimic the stream of consciousness that so often allows our past memories to be woven into our present experience. So as confusing as it sometimes is, it was done with regard to showing the realness of our main character.This is a story about what it means to be human, and how our memories create this resonance of emotion that cannot just be wiped away by forgetting.It was so short though, and while it was fittingly short, I wish for just a bit more as this book has left me with a craving

I'm giving this book three stars because of its imaginative premise that memories can take on a life of their own. However, the story never really gets off the ground. The writer's purpose in setting the action in the 1920s remains mysterious to me; the setting plays no real part in the development and creates a distance that's exacerbated by the overblown prose ("Had they not already evaporated in the still air, my words would have turned tail and hurried back to me"), characters who come across as actors in a period melodrama, and a superschmaltz ending cribbed from Dr Who. A shame, because the idea has real potential.

What experiences make us who we are? And who do we become if we remove the memories of those experiences? For those who are concerned this is another take of "eternal sunshine of the spotless mind" fear not. This take on the process of removing old memories delves into who we are as a society, who we are as people, and who we are to others outside that society, all with the backdrop of the glittering 1920s and 30s. It's a stunning feat to explore societal failings and personal triumphs and morals so explicitly within so short a novel, and to do it with prose that never feels rushed. Indeed, though the page count is shorter, this novel allows the reader to breathe with the memories, rather than rushed and crammed together. I don't want to give any spoilers away so I'll leave my review at that. This was a delightful find, and I'm so glad I picked it up on a whim. It's a memory I certainly want to preserve.

This is a cool, thought provoking sci-fi. I tend to read before I go to sleep, and I wish I'd read this book when my mind was fresh and alert. Need to reread to catch all of the nuance I missed. This reminded me of a historical fiction episode of Black Mirror. It's not a long book, but it is packed full and not as fast of a read as I expected it to be. Can't wait to see more from this author.

It was a short book but as other reviewers said, it raises many important questions about memories, trauma and compartmentalization. While the stream-of-consciousness style narrative may be hard for some to follow, it all comes together in a beautiful and satisfying end.

A wonderful example of urban sci-fi. Mem asks the question “just because we can do something, should we?”

I do wish that there were more commentary on race and class (this author even addresses the lack of it in an end note -- it's clearly not the novel she wanted to write). Morrow has written a slim novel filled with some big ideas of how memory shapes us, even makes us strong, and certainly, makes us human

I bought this copy for my mom. I'm about 3/4 of the way through the book and things are really starting to click with me. I struggled in the beginning finding the negative aspects of myself, but as I read on and DID THE EXERCISES, things started to get easier and I started connecting with the book. It's written very well and an easy read. Debbie (R.I.P.) really breaks things down to help you to get to your shadow self and find those aspects of yourself that you try to hide from the world, but mostly hide from yourself. Then she has you integrate those aspects into your life, which can be challenging, but she gives you the tools and exercises needed to do it. I used my phone to record the exercises which require either a quiet mind starting with deep breaths and your imagination or a quiet mind and access to your subconscious. It's easier to listen to the words in the exercise, then turn around and immediately start writing what your experience was. I highly recommend recording your voice for the exercises. It might sound cheesy, and you may want to wait until no one is home for privacy's sake if you're unable to sneak off for some alone time, but I guarantee it's worth it. The exercises really help and the book itself is incredibly helpful in finding that balance between your shadow self and your conscious self and integrating them. This book is for everyone because we all have a shadow self and it's a blessing to shine the light on it and let it be part of your true self.

Debbie Ford was a guest speaker at my health coaching school and her raw emotional, honest story was revolutionary and key in the work I am doing today nearly a decade later. It is not about "getting rid" of our flaws, it is about embracing, accepting and loving all of who we are. When we are trying to hide a part of ourselves, it leads us to all sorts of unhealthy behaviors, then we try to diet, be sober or regimented to be "perfect" enough for other people to accept us. There is great freedom in digging to the core of all this, fully loving yourself and letting your light shine to guide other's home.

I really enjoyed the book and the powerful, life-changing message Debbie Ford left for us. I had a bit of a hard time reading the book for the main message is reinforced over and over again. Nonetheless, I highly recommend this book: Great insights, invaluable exercises to practice (some quite difficult to face, I'll admit) and inspiring life stories shared from her conferences and gatherings. Thank you!

After a few rattling dreams, I realized my subconscious was pushing me to "deal" with my shadow side. Without any idea how to do so, I found this book and it has been powerful. The book has opened my eyes to several things about my life that is changing my attitudes, behaviors and most importantly my perspective on life. I think often times, you're told by others, "it's all perspective - that is the key to change." But it's hard to know what that means. I've followed several exercises in the book - and it changed my perspective - allowing me to let go (another one of those things people say you should do, but hard to know how.)The exercise where you own words you have judged others on by saying "I am _____" was particularly powerful for me. As I said them, I can feel these words just pushing at me at parts of my energy body. It's like something there needed to be released. The more I said it, the more it released. At times, it hurt. There was a tremendous amount of pain to release. But it was the most painful ones that was the most rewarding. As she said in her book - you felt lighter. This feeling of burying a secret inside yourself no longer needed to be veiled.It's changed the way I view people in a way I never thought possible. I now see people I dislike as my teachers - people who are brought to me to show me parts of myself I need to accept. And that has had a profound and completely amazing effect on my relationship with those people. All of a sudden, the tension lifted... and we got along better.I was also going through a period where I needed to reconcile the "old" me who was egotistical and ambitious and the "new" me who strived to be compassionate and humble. I beat myself up for having been that person, and was working so hard to suppress those old parts of myself and it was causing me to be depressed about who I am. The book made me realize that I didn't need to suppress that person - instead, it needed acceptance and there's no reason to completely put that part of myself away.It wasn't until after I finished the book that I found out Debbie Ford is no longer with us and had such a long struggle with cancer. Indeed, some may wonder about her teachings if she was sick - then could we really listen to this way of healing through shadow work? But I think it makes her human. The whole idea of the shadow is that it's always there. We will always struggle with the shadow - even the teacher.

Great! This book offers an insightful perspective on our inner landscape - the shadows and self worth we suppress, the story and belief system we subconsciously create, and the aspects of self that we project onto others. The book also provides valuable tools to bust through the story to assuage our judgements of self and others and unearth self-worth and contentment with what IS.

Just a few levels above the self help section sits this book. If you are headed down the spiritual journey path, but find yourself being blocked in various areas, this book can really help. Interesting is all the experiences we tuck away for survival in this 3D world. Highly recommend this book!

Debbie Ford has a nice manner of speaking, and is pleasant to listen to. She brings to light many of the common fears and issues that we all deal with, and breaks down tools to help work past the mental blocks in our lives. I have found her to be, by far, one of my favorite mentors.
